These seaweed specimens exist among the rocky coastline throughout New England. They are often found together, floating along with other species in the subtidal zone or captured in a tidepool between the tides.
Sea Fern (Bryopsis plumosa) was named according to its resemblance of earth bound ferns, although its fronds are much more delicate. Grinnell's Pink Leaf (Grinelia americana) was named after the Phycologist who discovered it and is one of the most beautiful seaweeds in the world.
